Systemic disease in early childhood revealed by oral condition
Scientific Programme (On Demand)
Session Description
Systemic disease in early childhood revealed by oral condition
Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is known as a rare genetic disease with bone and/or dental symptoms, with 1 per 100,000 individuals affected. However, recent studies have demonstrated that the distribution frequency of severe and moderate types is totally different, and also shown the existence of many undiagnosed moderate type patients. Based on the typical finding of early exfoliation of primary teeth, dentists can be enabled to screen for possible cases leading to early diagnosis of HPP.
