Session Description
Partially dentate patients : empowering patients to make informed treatment choices
This session will offer an overview of the resources and recommendations developed by FDI for National Dental Associations and their members to assist in the planning and delivery of care for the partially dentate patient. Prominent oral health experts will describe the holistic approach used by FDI in preparing a new guidance for dentists and partially dentate patients. The presentation of this approach will be followed by a demonstration of the 3Cs Pathway recommended in the FDI white paper and of the interactive self-assessment tool with examples from clinical experience. After this session, participants will be able to understand the principles of the self-assessment tool and its application and will be able to begin using it in practice for the benefit of their patients.

This session will showcase the interactive self-assessment tool for patients created by FDI to empower patients to make informed treatment choices. Based on the holistic approach used by FDI in preparing resources and recommendations for partially dentate patients, the self-assessment tool has been developed to strengthen patient-dentist relations in treatment planning. During this session, the self-assessment tool will be presented with examples from clinical experience. After the session, participants will understand the principles behind the self-assessment tool and be able to begin to use it in practice for the benefit of their patients.
