A leading clinician and researcher in the provision of environmentally sustainable oral health care, Dr Steven Mulligan shares his time and expertise as a primary care provider in general practice and as a clinical academic at the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield, UK. In his two roles, Dr Mulligan combines his expertise and skill sets to provide high quality research, teaching and general dentistry. He is a founding member of the ‘Sustainability in Dentistry’ research programme based at the University of Sheffield, with his research focusing on the environmental impact of dental restorative materials; life cycle analysis of dental materials; improved management of single use plastics (SUPs) from healthcare and the management of dental amalgam waste in municipal water systems. A key opinion leader for a number of dental industry companies, Dr Mulligan is a firm believer that together we can improve our patients' oral health whilst being more sustainable.
