Professor of Operative Dentistry and Periodontology at the universities of Regensburg, Germany/Bern, Switzerland, Professor Gottfried Schmalz's main research interests include biocompatibility and tissue regeneration. The author of more than 270 articles in PubMed and the founder/editor of Clinical Oral Investigations, Professor Schmalz has over 35 prices/awards, e.g. the Distinguished Scientist Award, Distinguished Service Award of IADR and the Award of Excellence from the European Federation of Conservative Dentistry. He is a member/former senator of the German National Academy of Sciences.
