With a BDSc (Hons) Queensland (1983) and MDS Ortho Adelaide (1991), Dr Tony Weir has been researching aligners via university appointments for the past five years. Dr Weir has collected a large database of cases (15,000-plus) from 15 experienced orthodontists in Australia, New Zealand and the United States to enable independent research into the efficacy of aligners, which is his primary research interest. Dr Weir was a 2021 Milton Sims Visiting Professor, University of Adelaide and in 2022 he was awarded the P Raymond Begg Research Award, Australian Society of Orthodontists.
