Elected to the FDI Dental Practice Committee in 2018 and re-elected in 2021, Dr Mick Armstrong has chaired the Committee since 2022. In practice since 1985, Dr Armstrong spent many years as a trainer in the vocational training/dental foundation training scheme and supported and mentored other colleagues in their learning pursuits over that time. He has been involved in dental-political work since 1995 through local dental committee structures and the General Dental Practice Committee and has over 20 years’ experience in negotiating funding and designing the delivery of oral health services. In 2007, he was elected to the BDA’s Representative Board and in 2012 to the BDA’s Board, which he chaired between 2013 and 2020. Currently, he chairs the BDA’s Health and Science Committee. Dr Armstrong was awarded an Honorary Membership of the College of General Dentistry in 2020.
