An Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Queensland, Dr Michel Foley previously enjoyed a clinical and management career in public sector dentistry with Queensland Health, including six years as Director of Brisbane Dental Hospital. He holds master’s degrees in public health and epidemiology, and a PhD in dental public health and epidemiology. Dr Foley led the Oral Health Promotion and Prevention section of Australia's current National Oral Health Plan, has previously chaired the Australian Dental Association's Oral Health Committee, and is a Past President of ADA Queensland. He has been an advocate of water fluoridation for many years. In 2022, Dr Foley was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to community health and dental education.
