A consultant radiologist and an educator in the field of medical imaging, Dr Graham Lloyd-Jones is best known for his work as Director of Radiology Masterclass. He is a founder member of the FDI/World Dental Federation Whole Body Health task team. During the COVID-19 pandemic Dr Lloyd-Jones worked in collaboration with many research groups to gain an understanding of how the most severe disease develops in the lungs, which led to making important connections with the world of oral health. In his presentation, Dr Lloyd-Jones will explain the connections between poor oral health and the development of severe COVID-19. He will explore what this tells us about the immune system of the mouth, the delivery of oral pathogens via the bloodstream to the rest of the body, and how this informs us about links between poor oral health and development of many systemic diseases.
