Minamata and amalgam – what does it mean for dentistry
Whole Of Practice Stream (On Demand)
Session Description
Minamata and amalgam – what does it mean for dentistry
Sustainability means we meet our present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
We have a responsibility to protect our land and waterways from amalgam waste by installing amalgam separators and organising the collection of this waste, as per the Minamata Convention.
This will protect our food chain for us and future generations.
Australian data collected over the last 3.5 years shows that 1.5 tonnes of mercury has been collected in 2791 separators by the EPA licensed Mercury recycler.
The collection process is simple and will be outlined.
Installing an amalgam separator will be one of the most important sustainability measures you can implement in your practice.
