Advanced radiological interpretation of 2D and 3D studies of dento-alveolar lesions
Scientific Programme (On Demand)
Session Description
Advanced radiological interpretation of 2D and 3D studies of dento-alveolar lesions
Most dento-alveolar lesions are inflammatory in nature. However, other pathoses ranging from fibroosseous
lesions and vascular malformations to malignant metastatic disease also occur in the dentoalveolar
structures. The true nature of these lesions are often not clinically obvious and may clinically
or radiologically mimic dento-alveolar inflammatory lesions. However, optimal radiologic
interpretation can differentiate these conditions, mitigating the risk of delayed management or
misdiagnosis. With a large array of cases employing various imaging techniques, this lecture will
highlight the radiologic features of dento-alveolar inflammatory lesions and contrast them with the
key features of other pathologies.

Learning Objectives
- Identify the radiologic features of dento-alveolar inflammatory lesions in 2D and 3D studies.
- Understand the key features of other lesions which occur in the dento-alveolar regions, including cysts, fibro-osseous, benign and malignant tumours.
- Understand the principles of observation in identify the radiologic features of these conditions in both 2D and 3D imaging.
